Provision of Dignity kits “the beauty and hidden treasure of Menstruation”
A survey carried out by Plan international in 2017, revealed that, 1 in 10 girls are unable to afford sanitary products; 1 in 7 had to borrow sanitary wear from a friend due to affordability issues; 1 in 10 had to improvise sanitary wear. This phenomenon can be termed “Period poverty” which is the lack of access to sanitary products due to financial constraints. Again, the lack of proper sanitation facilities and proper and affordable hygiene materials for use by adolescent girls and women at home, at school and at workplaces, affects their health and dignity. It is for the above reason that SACOD in order to restore the dignity of these girls, provided tips on menstrual hygiene management and distributed Washable sanitary pads to over 200girls in Bamenda 3. Some of these girls are currently undergoing training on the identification of good material for the production, preservation and use of washable sanitary napkins.
