Promoting Environmental Protection

We strongly advocate and promote the protection and conservation of biodiversity which is important for our health, wealth, food, fuel and services we depend on. Hence protecting and conserving biodiversity plays an integral role in supporting many sectors of community development. We are inspired by UN SDG No. 13,14 &15. (Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss).

Why Environmental Protection

Through its Behaviour Change Communication program, SACOD in partnership with local health authorities and staff sensitize members of the local community on adequate prevention strategies against major diseases prevalent in the communities in which it operates, employing basic methods such as hand washing and the provision of additional WASH services.

FIRST ACTION

Food systems have been threatened by a series of environmental; climate-related setbacks and also limited access to improved all-weather and adaptable farm inputs. Food systems must fall in line with SDGs and food security pillars (Availability, accessibility, utilization, and stability).

SECOND ACTION

SACOD through its action of promoting organic agriculture aims at sustainably increasing household productivity and incomes from crops, livestock, and fish without having a negative impact on the environment. This will, in turn, raise the food and nutritional security of households with a special focus on women and youths.

THIRD ACTION

SACOD complements the GoC plans for development (Vision 2035) identifying agriculture as key for economic growth and poverty reduction and will collaborate with local government ministries and international partners to achieve food security, livelihoods, wealth creation, and employment in this region of high poverty.

FOURTH ACTION

SACOD in line with the rising need to implement climate-smart agriculture techniques builds farmers’ resilience through capacity building and mitigation of exposure to short-term risks. These would increase their ability to adapt and strive in the face of future hazards and long-term stresses.

FIFTH ACTION

SACOD is an eco-friendly organization that loves life in the forest and nature is at the heart of what we do. But our secret power comes from our mission to bring everyone with us into the protection of the wild. Because the future needs a balance between the needs of human beings and the needs of nature. People need resources like they need wild forests. And with our model, we can ensure both. Bringing everyone into sustainable forestry will help us towards a greener future.

SIXTH ACTION

Therefore, by implementing the CSA policies at local levels helps whenever and wherever possible to empower farmers especially women and girls on the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through their activities.
