
Training of Wildlife staff on the management of protected areas
Within the framework of conserving wildlife in Mbi Crater game reserve in the North west Region of Cameroon and considering the importance of involving the community in the conservation effort especially during the ongoing armed conflict, Sustainable Action for Community Development (SACOD) with the support of the Mbi Crater conservation unit and the delegation for wildlife Boyo division, was invited to strengthen the capacity of Mbi Crater Game Reserve staff and other technical staff on issues of Protected Area management in order to reduced encroachment and poaching. The objective of the training was to enable conservation staff and administration to gain knowledge and skills to fully and effectively perform their tasks in the process of conservation.

The Specific objectives of the training workshop were;
- To generate strategic communication skills as a tool for conservation staff especially during the present context
- To discuss issues relating to biodiversity loss and mitigation measures
- To discuss conservation strategies for highly endangered species during arm conflicts
- To discuss techniques in dealing with conflicts.
- To generate team building skills for better output
- To identify alternative livelihood sources so as to reduce pressure on PAs
- To gain and share knowledge in project management
- To identify training needs for staff of PAs
